Alternatively, BS18 could have taken a page out of Subsurface Circular (Opens in a new tab)'s book and kept its passengers faceless. Most bus drivers ask, "How are you today?" I struggled to avoid asking, "What's up with your face?" While your passengers' looks shouldn't be the focus of your game, these simulated citizens do need some real work. There is something wrong with these people. If you can divide your focus between not killing pedestrians and appreciating the little things, BS18 gives you a pleasant ride through your picturesque little town. Sure, the vermin and flooding aren't great, but more than anything I miss the nice views that come with a long drive. As a former Colorado girl, I haven't exactly loved New York City's transportation. The developers also released an extensive modding kit (Opens in a new tab) for those of you who want to get real into it. After way too much work, my commuter bus turned party bus and I was painting the town a vomit-y neon green color. But, overall, I had a blast personalizing my BS18 experience. The visuals and audio pull you into the action and commit you to your new life as the face of daily commuting. The various POVs, elaborate dashboard controls, and inclement weather simulations leave no stone of the public transport experience unturned.
